IT Governance
ISO/IEC 38500
Titled "Corporate Governance of Information Technology", this is the world standard for IT governance. The standard provides a framework for effective governance of IT to assist those at the highest level of organizations (directors) to understand and fulfill their legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations in respect of their organizations’ use of IT.
The standard is applicalbe to public, private, government and not-for-profit organizations. This standard is mostly conceptual to assit the directors where concrete implementations ideally need to depend on other complementary frameworks (like COBIT).
We provide consultancy on implementing ISO/IEC 38500.
COBIT + VAL IT Implementation
COBIT (Control Objectives for Information and related Technology) from IT Governance Institute is one of the most successful IT governance frameworks. It provides a set of generally accepted measures, indicators, processes and best practices for organizations to maximize the benefits derived through the use of information technology. It also assits in developing appropriate contols. COBIT focuses on IT planning and organization, acquiring and implementation, delivery and support, monitoring and evaluation processes.
While COBIT focuses on execution, VAL IT which extends and complements COBIT focuses on investment decisions and value realization of benefits. Process-wise, VAL IT is devided in to value governance, portfolio management and investment management.
While being more detailed than ISO/IEC 38500, COBIT and VAL IT describe "what" to be done in detail and the control framework of governance suited for the directors and upper management. "How" to carry out low level operations require additional frameworks, techniques and best practices (like ITIL, TOGAF - Enterprise Architecture, Zachman framework). Such are linked up to COBIT or VAL IT processes for governance purpose.
We are fully equipped in assiting your organization in fullscale implementation of COBIT and VAL IT at the governance level ("what do do") and also the enterprise architecture and other practices ("how to do") and link them well. We distinguish and highlight our capacity to do so without leaving you only with a governance framework which is mostly useless.
IT Balanced Scorecards
We can assist you even if your need is very specific - like implementing an IT balanced scorecard system to evaluate the benefit of IT (or specific IT systems) and link the same with organization's "business" scorecard.
* Note: COBIT and VAL IT frameworks are products of IT Governance Institute. We do not have any official affiliation with them.
